The RISE team is partnering with Councilor Bob Stacey to sponsor an upcoming Urban Land Institute event put on by the Thriving Cities Alliance titled Advanced Metrics and Urban Land Value.
This event will include presentations from Joseph Minicozzi and Gerard Mildner followed by a panel discussion featuring Councilor Carlotta Collette, Hillsboro planning director Colin Cooper and Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce president Deanna Palm. The moderator will be Nolan Lienhart, director of Planning & Urban Design, ZGF Architects.
The discussion is scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Benson Hotel, 309 SW Broadway in Portland. A happy hour will follow.
Minicozzi is the principal of Urban3, an analytics company based in Asheville, N.C. Before creating U3, he served as the executive director for the Asheville Downtown Association. Minicozzi has spent the last several years studying the effects of tax systems across the United States that create incentives for suburban sprawl, as opposed to encouraging urban infill projects. Mildner is the Academic Director at Portland State University’s Center for Real Estate where he teaches a variety of topics including urban economics, housing economics, public finance, and cost-benefit analysis.
