Dear Friends,
I wanted to let you know of a grassroots effort currently underway to build Gateway Green, a community park in East Portland. The Friends of Gateway Green would like to hear from you about your ideas for this park, which may include off-road biking and many other recreational opportunities for a community that is in need of parks and open space!
Gateway Green is a 38-acre plot of unused, partially wooded land in East Portland, where I-84 and I-205 come together. After years of grassroots efforts and partnerships with local, regional, and state government as well as the private and non-profit sectors, there is an opportunity to transform this neglected land into a celebrated asset. If these community groups, citizens, and others can raise the funds to build the park, the City of Portland has agreed to own and operate it.
Now is your chance to give input on the next round of design to make the best use of Gateway Green. The responses you provide will be compiled and provided to the design team to inform their work in anticipation of seeking large construction grants for the property.
Please take a moment and help make this park a reality!
