Proposal: Metro is providing notice for a public opportunity to review and comment on the draft Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) for the property located at 9665 SW River Road in Hillsboro. The draft ABCA details the analysis and selection of protective cleanup options to address contamination at the site.
Highlights: The 1.61 acre site was utilized for agricultural purposes from before 1936 until the 1970s. The property has been in use for single family residential and ancillary commercial purposes since the late 1990s. The property consists of a 5,400 square foot one story residential/shop combination building, a 500-gallon above ground heating oil tank and a barn. A site investigation was completed in March 2013 to evaluate soil and groundwater conditions. The sampling identified that the concentrations of lead, petroleum hydrocarbons, and volatile organic compounds in soil currently exceed Oregon DEQ Risk-Based Concentrations for the exposure pathways present.
The draft ABCA selected excavating the contaminated soil and hauling it offsite for suitable disposal as the preferred remedial alternative.
